Van 20 t/m 23 augustus 2008 was er Sail Den Helder. Er kwamen 75 Tallships uit Europa, Azië, Z-Amerika die tijdens deze dagen ook te bezichtigen waren. Nooit eerder ontving een Nederlandse haven een groter aantal driemasters en historische zeezeilschepen.
